Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Fighters Group

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the main group to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the additional parties.

This warrior group features the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).

Why Split the Party?

Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.

Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.

Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the team understands precisely where to go next after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.

Casimir then cleared his liabilities and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Cyd close behind.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each adventurer has a individual motive to depart the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
  • Kattigan is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty environment.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the party reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him wherever.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The warrior and The cleric defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The target is wanted dead by the family.

This results in them no alternative but to head to the northern region in quest for the antagonist.

What’s Next?

According to the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the rest of the participants to round up the Questers and Schemers tables.

Audiences can look forward to finding out which players will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
